Time Machine is a great back up tool but it gives the user no control as for as how often it should be up your precious mac. There is no built in settings that allow you to change the default intervals of every 1 hour. Some folks don’t like time machine running every Hour & some do no mind it at all. While it is not an issue on newer Macs but folks who are still on older system have reported performance slows down when Time Machines starts to work its magic.

That when Time Machine’s new BFF comes into Play. TimeMachineScheduler  is freeware, Mac OS X Leopard only. It lets you choose intervals such as ever 2 hours, 3  hours ,6hours  & all the way up to 12hours.
