Apple maybe be naming the Next Gen Tablet “iPad HD” , the device which has been dubbed iPad 3 by the online community has been in the headlines and spinning the rumor mill into overtime for last few months.
Rumors of what the Next Gen iPad will or will not come with have been making the blogosphere work extra hard. Rumors ranging from anything like No Home Button, Retina Display, quad-core chip, Siri, even a 7.85-inch iPad have been making the headlines.
And now we see even the magical device’s name is up for some rumor mill action.
Gizmodo has published an interesting piece in which Griffin and Belkin refer to the new device as the ‘iPad HD’.
A reader reports that a device called iPad HD has been appearing occasionally in their web site analytics since April 2011. However, device names can be easily simulated using Chrome or Firefox browsers. His data also list a 2048 x 1536 device accessing the site during the same period, which coincides with the rumored resolution for the new iPad.Update: A reader reports that a device called iPad HD has been appearing occasionally in Google analytics since April 2011. However, this resolution could be a desktop monitor too. In fact, our own analytics show devices with this resolution accessing Gizmodo since 2009, but no iPad HD is to be found in our listings. Just iPad (no iPad 2 either).
Update 2: Scratch that. The reader says the device information is not from Google Analytics, but usage data from an application called Tapatalk, which runs on iOS, Android and Blackberry.
