Apple is planning to release a new Apple TV set-top box in April and is currently negotiating with Time Warner Cable Inc. Apple is also negotiating with other possible content partners to bring more content to the Apple TV. This is according a report published by Bloomberg, stating that this insight comes from people with knowledge of the matter.

Apple is currently shooting for the new set-top box to be available for sale by the Christmas holidays, the release date could be changed because of the ongoing negotiations going on to securing new agreements with programming and content distribution partners.

The new device, which plugs into a television set, will have a faster processor than the previous version and an upgraded interface to make it easier for customers to navigate between TV shows, movies and other online content, one person said. An agreement with Time Warner Cable would mark the first such deal with a pay-TV provider.
