Health Icon

Apple today unveiled iOS 8, iOS 8 includes some cool new features and Apps. One of those key apps that was introduced within iOS 8 is the all new ‘Health’ app. The new Health App aims to eliminate the use of multiple Apps to track your health, fitness and other health related data. The new Health app will also streamline all the data that is stored within other apps on your Device.

For example :  You will have ‘Health’ App pull data that is collected automatically by Apps that are connected to hardware like Nike fuel band, FitBit Flex Band, Wi-fi Weight machines, etc. Off-course the stand-alone apps that are not connected to any hardware can also share their data with the ‘Health’ app as well (ex: something like a Calorie Counter app). So instead of launching multiple Apps you will be able to get all that you need in once Place.

The new Health app gives you an easy-to-read dashboard of your health and fitness data. And we’ve created a new tool for developers called HealthKit, which allows all the incredible health and fitness apps to work together, and work harder, for you. It just might be the beginning of a health revolution.

“How are you?” now has a really accurate answer.

Heart rate, calories burned, blood sugar, cholesterol — your health and fitness apps are great at collecting all that data. The new Health app puts that data in one place, accessible with a tap, giving you a clear and current overview of your health. You can also create an emergency card with important health information — for example, your blood type or allergies — that’s available right from your Lock screen.

Your health and fitness apps will soon work even harder for you.

With HealthKit, developers can make their apps even more useful by allowing them to access your health data, too. And you choose what you want shared. For example, you can allow the data from your blood pressure app to be automatically shared with your doctor. Or allow your nutrition app to tell your fitness apps how many calories you consume each day. When your health and fitness apps work together, they become more powerful. And you might, too.
