Now we can not recommend this tweak but if the release of Slingplayer without any 3G support got you down, you can be Happy!

Tricker ThreeG is a small tweak available in Cydia that allows you to use the SlingPlayer connection using 3G data network. It simply applies the same patch of VOIPover3G but does not require the modification of files or the addition of indentifier bundle.

We do want to Warn you against the use because it adds a new daemon process in the background, so if you already use VOIPover3G, you can continue to use only one, with appropriate modifications.

Sling Player is finally available in the Apple’s Appstore. After all this time looks like what we had tought about at&t ‘s plan of keeping Sling Player from Sliging onto the iphone have failed but not without some success. The big let down is that att has pulled the plug on SlingPlayer’s Streaming over the 3G plan. All the sling fans were really hoping for an app like this that will let them stream their favorite shows over the Mobile Network onto iPhone’s Big screen.

 However, a clause in AT&T’s terms of service, under the section detailing permissible and prohibited uses, outlines that activities such as redirection of television signals “cause extreme network capacity issues and interference with the network and are therefore prohibited.”

Good or bad – 3G or wi-fi – Sling player is here. The App costs $29.99.

Mark Siegel, a spokesman in Atlanta for AT&T’s mobility business, said that redirecting a TV signal would consume very large amounts of bandwidth and could potentially impede other wireless phone users from accessing the network. “It is one thing to redirect an actual TV signal to a PC or a smartphone … and another going to Hulu” to watch TV, he said. (Of course, Hulu uses a Flash player that is currently unavailable to iPhone/iPod users anyway.)

But he did point out that iPhone 3G customers have free access to AT&T’s 20,000 U.S. hot spots and 80,000 outside the country. 

Sling said it hoped to continue to work with Apple and AT&T on making 3G transmission a possibility.

Sling Media showed off a version of SlingPlayer running on an iPhone just about a year ago & there is still no SlingPlayer App for the iPhone.  The Boy Genius report did say that at&t  may ask Apple to Keep SlingPlayer from taking a stroll in the AppStore, but the same folks also state that Sling Media did not hear anything back from Apple regarding the approval of their App. Now we see that SlingMedia has started to show off their Latest & greatest App for the iPhone,So its likely that SlingPlayer App for the iPhone will be available for download soon. There have been rumors that the App itself may not work with the latest SlingBox products users may have to upgrade their Slingbox to be able to use the Mobile App itself.  But all things Aside it does look like that SlingPlayer App will be here sooner of later. Sling Media has announced on their website that SlingPlayer for the iPhone will be available soon.! 

Update :

Rumor has it that SlingBox’s iPhone App has been Rejected by Apple. The reason? like we said earlier in this post”AT&T” is worried about the massive BandWidth useage that this App may cause over the 3G Network hence putting at&t in a spot where they really do not want to be.
