iPhone 3G Jailbreak

Mac Guide – We will use this guide to:

Jailbreak – iPhone 3GS With Firmware 3.0.1 .

Important !

If you have used Categories – Please Remove everything out of Folders created by categories. For ex. Apps Folder – has all Apps inside – Remove these Apps from within this folder & delete App Folder do this for all Folders created by categories – it is important that you First remove apps from within categories folder & then remove the folder itself. Now uninstall categories completely from Cydia or icy. If you do not do this – We found AppStore showing Apps Installed but we were unable to locate the App (even via – Spotlight).

If you have Blank Icons Installed Please remove them Prior to Restore.

We tested this and found – Apps were missing – Storage was taken by (other) in iTunes – Blanks will show up on the device after a sync (This is because Blank Icons are bookmarks & bookmarks are backed up in iTunes) so to avoid complications afterwards we suggest you take these tiny steps to get a clean jailbroken Device.

Now Hook your device up & let is Back up - This Back up will promise a clean restore without any extra stuff inserted.

While these steps are not necessary but they will surely promise a clean install. We Highly recommend that you Do this. This jailbreak will install Cydia (no Icy,icy can be installed from within Cydia).

Download All 3 To Your DeskTop

Create “Pwnage” Folder on the desktop & place everything inside this folder.

Use FirFox To Download Firmware Files

Getting your Device to Firmware 3.0.1

Note: Before we begin You Must have 3.0.1 Firmware on your Device,so if your device is not on 3.0.1

You can simple do a simple restore via iTunes.

1. Connect your iPhone 3GS To your Mac & Go into iTunes

Hit Restore – iTunes may say “Restore & Update” or “Restore”. If the latest Firmware out is 3.0.1 you can Simply Click Restore & Update.

You can also use the – Option + Restore Method to restore your iPhone.

Connect your iPhone.

Hold the Option Button on your Mac and hit Restore.

Pop up will show up.

Locate the Firmware 3.0.1 File iPhone 2,1_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.ipsw & Double Click it.

Restore process will begin & your iPhone will be restore in approx 10 to 15 mins.

Jailbreak

Step 1. Double Click Redsn0w Icon

Step 2. Redsn0w will open up to a welcome screen Now – Hit the Browse Button & find Firmware 3.0 in pwnage folder.

Note: Here – we will get the Redsn0w to Pick up the 3.0 (3GS) Firmware Not the 3.0.1

(double click the firmware file iPhone 2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw)

Step 3. Redsn0w will Identify the firmware file & give a success message. Click Next

Step 4. Make sure Install Cydia is Selected. You can also Install Icy as well if you like.

Click Next

Step 5. Please Read All This Before Starting.

Hook your iPhone to you computer & Turn it off – Click Next

Note: For iPhone 3GS the process is Different. Instead of DFU Jailbreak can be achieved via Restore Mode.

Simply Follow the Following instructions to get your Device into Restore Mode.

As soon as your Device enters Restore mode – Jailbreak should begin.

Step 7. [Waiting for Reboot]

Note: JailBreaking 3.0.1 - If you get Stuck on “Waiting for reboot” screen (redsn0w shows this message 2 times we are talking about the 2nd time) – Simply Unplug your device and plug it back within a second or 2 seconds. if it still doesnt work hit cancel and start over till this step – Next time you see the Waiting for reboot (2nd Time) Unplug your Device & plug it back in right away . It should work fine.

Step 8. Done – Your Device has been Jailbroken. You will find Cydia installed on your springBoard.

Note : Your device will reboot at this stage
