iAnnounce is an extension of Mobile Substrate, now available for free on Cydia. Once installed it adds the ability to announce the name of the caller who is calling.
iAnnounce does not add any new icon on your SpringBoard. Tweak is compatible with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 with IOS 4.0 or later and can be downloaded from the ”Tweaks” category of Cydia through the BigBoss repository .
Rectific pls, NO is compatible with Iphone 3G.

I confirm that it does not work. My Springboard restarted again and again and jumped into Safe Mode every time… So do NOT install on iOS 5!

I recently changed from an ancient Nokia N97mini to an iPhone 4. A very useful feature of the Nokia was to speak the name of whoever was calling. If you are busy doing something and your phone is perhaps across the room it's handy to know if you need to drop everything and answer (poss client) or to let it ring on (poss person you don't want to respond to) I was sure an iPhone could do this but I haven't found a way without possibly jailbreaking which I don't want to do. Is thre a legit way?

Just tried it again, iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4, NOT announcing as it should. Installs ok but does nothing.
5.1.1 Fix Instructions
If you install iAnnounce it will not work properly. Here are the steps to fix it:
1) Plug in a set of headphones
2) Go to Settings iAnnounce and enable headphone only.
3) Call you phone(confirm announce works on headphones)
4) Disable headphones only in iAnnounce settings
5) Call your phone(it should now announce correctly.
Updated 5.1.1 Fix Instructions
Simply Toggle HeadPhone only ON and OFF and then everything functions normally. Performed original instructions above on 5.1.1 and then revised toggle ON and OFF and 5.0.1 (iPhone 4) which restored functionality.
Mute switch is ignored for me. Any idea? Otherwise the calls are announced.
Do I have to add all my contact for iannounce to announce?

Its a good alternative to Nokia feature announcing the name; however unlike Nokia it does only once in the beginning.
Can we have it announce the name after few seconds like Nokia does?
