In This tutorial we will show you how to upgrade your iPhone to iOS 4.1 without updating its Baseband (keeping your iPhone’s ability to unlock). We will do this by using TinyUmbrella for Mac.

Must Read : After you download TinyUmbrella – immediately move it to the Applications folder on your mac. Do not run it of off the disk image.

After Downloading it, do not run it from the disk Image.

10 T0 15 Minutes Approx

Step 1.

Connect your iPhone with your computer.

Launch Umbrella By Double Clicking it.

You maybe asked to enter administrative username and password.

Step 2.

With your iPhone already connected to the Computer. TinyUmbrella should show similar screen as below.

Now Make sure you Click “Save My SHS”

Step 3.

Now Hit “Start TSS Server” & keep an eye out to make sure you get no errors.

Once you have The TSS Server is “running” successfully without any errors, Umbrella will kill iTunes.

Make sure you Leave TinyUmbrella Open.

Step 4.

Open iTunes | Now Hold OptionKey on your Mac & Click “Restore button.

Once Restore button is clicked you will get a Pop up.

Now locate the iOS 4.1 Firmware you downloaded

Click “Restore” & the restore Process will begin.

Step 5.

Your iPhone will now start to be restored to iOS 4.1

You may get the following error, once the restore process has been finished.

Do not Panic

Step 6.

You can use TinyUmbrella to kick your Device out of Recovery.

Note:

  • If your iPhone does not come out of recovery mode within 2 minutes.
  • You should quit TinyUmbrella & restart it & Try to kick Device Out if Recovery again.

Done – You are all Done !

Once our of recovery Mode – You should now be on iOS 4.1 & with Baseband 01.59.0.
