What does BlackRa1n jailbreak Work With?  - Will Work on All iPods & iPhones

iPod Touch Its Tricky ? – Only supports tethered Jailbreak for  the new iPod Touch – Which means once your iPod Runs out of Battery you will have to use BlackRa1n to boot up your iPod.

iPhone Its Tricky ? –  Will work with 3.1.2 firmware, but will not hacktivate the iPhone. This in short  means if you do not have your iPhone with Official Apple Approved Carrier BlackRa1n will not be able to activate your iPhone for you.

Unlocked, Yes its Tricky ? - Even though the BlackRa1n jailbreak supports 3.1.2 please do not update if you are on iPhone Firmware 3.0.1 or 3.0 You will lose your unlock.

In short this means if you update your iPhone via iTunes you will loose the ability to unlock your iPhone, You should use PwnageTool to update to 3.1. If you want 3.1.2 and still want the ability to be unlocked you will have to wait for next version of PwnageTool. But if you do not care about unlock and are on official carrier lets go ahead and just jailbreak your iPhone.
