Many Thanks to the pod3g, geohotz & the iPhone Dev-Team for their hard Work & contributions to the iDevice World.

First of all the best and clearest explanation I saw on internet!
Secondly: I was reading in Dev-Teams site, that there is a possibility
to jailbreak untethered 3gs with old bottom that needs to be unlocked with ultrasn0w 1.2.4, using a custom ipsw. But I and maybe many others don't know what are the necessary steps to do.
Can you please explain us graphically as shown above how to jailbreak
without changing our baseband?
Thanks for help
Sure, Thing We will try to knock out a simple guide how to do that. ! Keep an eye out.
Allow me to echo the above commenters sentiments, great clear explanation. Thanks for the detailed guide.
When you say "If you need your iPhone Unlocked – Do not run this Jailbreak !" what exactly does that mean?
I have a 3gs on contract with Vodafone Australia, that contract is a couple of months from ending and I assume that I'll need to unlock the phone as I want to change networks when my contract is up. If I use this jailbreak will I jeopardise my chances of changing networks soon?
Thanks.
- What iOS is your iPhone 3GS on? What baseband do you have?
If you need your iPhone Unlocked, you should stay away from this method of jail breaking as this will upgrade the Baseband of your iPhone when updating to iOS 5.0.1. There are only a few base bands that can be unlocked at this time.
If you depend on an unlock you should always preserve the baseband via jail breaking your iPhone with PwnageTool.
Check your baseband (modem Firmware)- Go to Setting>>General>>About>>Now look @ Modem Firmware.
Unlockable BaseBands : If it is any of these – 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00!.
If you have anything higher than – 05.13.04 -then the iPhone cannot be unlocked at this time.
If you do have one of the unlockable base bands – please stay away from this method.
Cheers.
I have iOS 4.4.3 (jailbroken), & the baseband is 05.16.02.
According to Vodafone's I'll need to do a restore & update at some stage to be able to use another provider's sim card. I guess I'll look into that procedure (and hopefully maintain a jailbreak) when my contract is up in a month or so.
Thanks for your help.
