These instructions will work with the latest 3.1.2 firmware, the 05.11.07 baseband.

What will this do ? – it will Jailbreak – Activate & unlock you iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS.

For those with a newest iPhone 3GS (updated Bootrom), BlackRa1n only supports a tethered jailbreak. This means that once jailbroken you should not let your battery die.

If it does die you will need to reconnect it to the computer and use BlackRa1n to boot it.

Before continuing make sure your device is updated to the latest firmware 3.1.2 using iTunes & that you are on the  latest baseband 05.11.07.

BlackRa1n says “Entering Recovery Mode” but my iPhone is not entering recovery mode. Or my iPhone is stuck on the iTunes/USB Restore screen and blackra1n still says “Entering Recovery Mode” or my iPhone turned off and won’t boot, blackra1n says “Entering Recovery Mode”

1. Press the power button and the home at a time and when you see the icon of the apple release the power but keep pressing the home until you see the photo of geohot with the Iphone. Let go home then.
2. Turn the phone off completely by unplugging USB cord. (Note Blackra1n is still running in the background) Plug it back in and try setp 2 again.

BlackRa1n has entered my iPhone into Recovery mode, and now says “Running…” but nothing is happening. I still see the iTunes/USB Restore screen on my iPhone/iPod.

If this is the case, try the following:
1. Close blackra1n and try opening it Again
2. Try terminating the process AppleMobileService.exe. (May require you to unplug/reboot your iPhone or Running BlackRa1n again)
