In This Guide we will Downgrade iPhone 3GS or a 3G From Firmware 4.0 To 3.1.3 & then Take it up to 4.0 Again while Remaining Jailbroken.

To Do This your iPhone must have the SHSH Blobs Saved on Saurik’s Server ! Saved Via Cydia.

If you have your shsh blobs saved on Saurik’s server go ahead follow quick instructions below in order to sign the 3.0 firmware.

Apple has stopped signing the 3.0 firmware so this is an important step in order to downgrade your iPhone.

Launch Finder & to “Go” in the Top Menu Bar then Click >> “Go To Folder” Type –  /etc/ and click Go.

Now Find the “hosts” file in this folder and double click it.

At the very bottom add this line –  74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

Important – Do not save this file other way – Simply do Command + S

& Replace the hosts file in the etc folder with this one you will need to enter your admin password & thats it.You are done !

Now Proceed to Restore & downgrade.


Steps are Similar for Both iPhone3GS & iPhone 3G.

1. Download Firmware 3.1.3

2. Download RecBoot from here (To kick the iPhone out of 1015 Error)

Step 1.

Put your iPhone into DFU Mode.

Turn your Device off.

1.| Important - Hold The Home  for 2 seconds & continue to Hold.

2. | Now Hold The power Button. Keep holding both button Together for 10 seconds.

3.| Device will restart Continue to Hold.

4.| Release when you see the Below Pop up in iTunes.

MUST READ – You can use the below video to get into DFU Mode – But you Before holding both buttons together, You must Press and hold the Home Button Before the Power Button otherwise your iPhone will go into a restore mode not the DFU.

Step 2.

  • Option Key (Mac) | Hold Shift Key ( Pc)
  • Pop up will come up – Now Locate the Firmware File  & Click Open (or double click it).

Restore Will Begin

Device Restored ↓

You will not get a success Message – Instead you will get this !  Don’t Panic

You device will be Stuck on the Recovery Screen.

Restore Active

You Should have Downloaded RecBoot – Double Click RecBoot Icon

Click

Exit Recovery Mode

Your iPhone Will be kicked out of Recovery Mode & will be at the activation Screen.

With 3.1.3 Firmware.
