Last month, iPhone app called “Start Mobile Wallpaper Gallery” was rejected because it featured artwork of President Obama. Specifically, it was Shepard Fairey’s famous “HOPE” image of Obama that Apple found inappropriate stating that it “ridicules public figures”.This proved once again, how ridiculous Apple’s App Approval process actually is. The image in question is hanging at the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian & now Apple is seeing the light of the day hence acknowledging that the rejection was unfair & unjust.
The developer “Start Mobile” received the following email from Apple giving them another chance to submit their App once more :
After further investigation, we have decided that Start Mobile Wallpaper Gallery is in compliance with our SDK agreement & PLA. We would like to ask that you resubmit Start Mobile Wallpaper Gallery at your earliest convenience if you would still like this application considered for the App Store. Please let me know once your binary has been uploaded and I will ensure an expedited review.

As we discussed in earlier posts – the recent FCC investigation has definatly surved a positive side effect due to which many rejected App’s are getting a 2nd chance. Apple is rethinking – reviewing – & making sure they have not declined an App for a rubish reason. !
We all can Thank the FCC for driving Apple to go back and reviewing a rejection, and realizing they made a mistake.
