JailBroken? – Still want to try 3.0 ? – If you have your iPhone via Official iPhone carrier & you can activate your iPhone via iTunes without any issues ! You can Upgrade as well.
If you have a 2G iPhone – You can not Restore your device - You can only upgrade hence getting you stuck at the activation screen if you have your phone with a non-approved carrier. (Good one Apple Good one).

It looks so Tempting…… should I update?? I think I will wait a bit, not enough unless I can Jailbreak comfortably. Maybe if MMS is good to go…… but just a plain black iphone like most people..NOT!!!!
