Google rolled out the My Location feature for Google.com on the iPhone. When you visit Google.com from the Safari browser of an iPhone sporting 3.0 software, you’ll be greeted with a hyperlink urging you to enable My Location.

The My location feature is something that was launched by Google for Google Maps in 07. On the iPhone it has become something that is one of the most used features within the Maps itself. Where a user can simply enter for example “McDonald’s” and the maps will use the My Location service to locate the near by Mcdonald’s and show them on the Map. So in short it pull user’s location from the cloud and gives search results relevant to user’s Physical context.  The most convenient thing about this is that the user has to never tell the App where they are at any given time the My Location feature takes care of that all on its own.

The My Location feature looks like it will remain fixed on the Google home page so you can easily update it as you move around. You can disable it at any time from the Preferences menu.

Search with My Location from Safari is available in English in the US and UK. Look for other country and language combinations soon. You can also search with My Location using Google Mobile App, available from the iPhone App Store.
