- GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use PwnageTool right now. UltraSn0w is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be release via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 unlock works with this PwnageTool release.
- Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you can get it via Cydia or Icy).
- Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
- Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
- At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.0 capable version of PwnageTool.
- This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release.
- PwnageTool will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
- PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.
so jesse i'm on att but you know i like taking mine 3g to india with me, do i need to wait for the nxt jailbreak or can i jailbreak now then use ultrasnow later as it is relesed.I'm goin to india next friday buddy. I think i might stay at 2.2.1 with yellows0nw until i get back pls advise

@ jatt5abi – Yes ! you can jailbreak it now- and then use ultrasnow to unlock at a later time.
do i have to change the general settings in the pwnage tool to jailbreak my iphone because i had to before if so wha do i change the number to

hey jstlyles, why do you have to change the settings?? what computer do you have (guessing mac) and do you have the iphone 3G??? I am going to update and jailbreak in a few minutes… wish me luck..
i got a mac but i had a pc to that's not working rite now but on the pc and the mac i had to change the 511 number to 1000 and now i jailbroke it but it wont activate my phone
Have you tried again, and what state is your iPhone in right now??
Just finished….. First I updated from 2.2 to 3.0 on iTunes. Next I Jailbroke with Pwnage Tool 3.0 and the new Firmware….. I didn't come across one problem, although it did take about an hour total. I first created a folder on my desktop and saved all my contacts, calendar, notes, mewseek downloads, cycorder videos, etc…. just incase.. but iTunes did the trick with restoring my iPhone the way it was. Now onto my wife's iPhone.

How did everybody elses jailbreak go…. I was up to 2:30am finishing my wife's iphone… everything went well, just getting all her apps and themes back on was time consuming. Good Luck All…..
